About KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF
China's biggest internet companies are the whole point of this fund. It tracks the CSI Overseas China Internet Index and concentrates on the platforms most outsiders know by reputation: Tencent, Alibaba, PDD, Meituan, JD.com and NetEase, most of them listed in Hong Kong or as US-traded ADRs rather than on the mainland. KraneShares, a China-focused manager, launched it in 2013, and it has become the default way for foreign investors to own the sector. That focus cuts both ways. KWEB soared during the 2020 tech boom and then collapsed through Beijing's 2021 regulatory crackdown, which shows how sensitive it is to Chinese policy, delisting worries and the health of the domestic consumer.
