About iShares MSCI India ETF
India's stock market was long awkward for foreigners to buy directly, and INDA became the simplest way around that. It tracks the MSCI India Index, holding large and mid-cap companies such as Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Infosys and ICICI Bank, and it captures the country's shift toward financials, technology and consumer growth. BlackRock launched it in 2012. The pitch is demographic and structural: a young, populous economy that many investors expect to be one of the fastest-growing large markets for years. Costs run higher than a US index fund because Indian equities are pricier to access and often trade at rich valuations, a premium buyers accept for the growth story. Currency swings and India's own market cycles can be sharp, so the ride is less smooth than a developed-market holding.
