About iShares Ethereum Trust ETF
ETHA lets an ordinary brokerage account hold Ether without touching a crypto exchange or wallet. BlackRock launched it in 2024 among the first U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs, and the structure is simple: the trust buys and holds actual Ether, with a regulated custodian safeguarding the coins, so each share tracks the price of the second-largest cryptocurrency minus a small fee. That removes the operational headaches of self-custody - private keys, exchange risk, transfers - that keep many investors and institutions out of crypto. Because it holds spot Ether rather than futures, it follows the underlying price closely rather than accumulating roll costs. Buyers are typically investors who want Ethereum exposure inside a familiar, tax-reported wrapper, whether as a speculative position or a small allocation alongside a bitcoin fund.
