About iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF
The growth half of the Russell 1000 is what this fund owns. It tracks the Russell 1000 Growth Index, which takes the thousand largest US companies and screens for the ones with faster sales and earnings growth and higher valuations, leaving a portfolio dominated by mega-cap technology: Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon and their peers. BlackRock launched it in 2000. Because a handful of giant tech names carry so much weight, IWF has ridden the same wave that lifted the market's biggest winners, outperforming sharply in growth-led years and stumbling when investors rotate toward cheaper value stocks. Investors use it to tilt a portfolio toward growth or to express a view that large innovative companies will keep compounding faster than the broad market. The concentration at the top is the main thing to watch.
