Tsakos Energy Navigation

Founded in 1993 and run out of Athens, Tsakos Energy Navigation is one of the older listed Greek tanker owners. Its fleet of roughly 60-plus double-hull ships spans nearly every tanker class, from VLCCs and Suezmaxes down to smaller product carriers, along with LNG and shuttle tankers, giving it more diversification than single-class rivals. TEN leans more toward medium-term charters with national and major oil companies than pure spot trading, which smooths earnings but caps the upside when rates spike. It is also known as one of the largest ice-class operators, able to serve harsh-weather trades others cannot. The Tsakos family remains closely tied to the company. Like all tanker owners, its fortunes hinge on the freight cycle, fleet renewal and how much capital it must sink into new ships.
