Redwire

Redwire was assembled by merging a set of established space suppliers rather than started from a single garage. Private-equity firm AE Industrial Partners combined Adcole Space, Deep Space Systems and others in 2020, then rolled up more companies to create a broad supplier of space infrastructure. Its products are the unglamorous but essential parts of missions: solar arrays that power satellites, sensors and cameras for navigation, deployable structures, and experiments in manufacturing materials in orbit. It sells to NASA, the U.S. military and commercial satellite builders, and has pushed into space-based drug and semiconductor research. The roll-up strategy means growth by acquisition as well as by contract wins, which brings integration and debt risk alongside the upside. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, and public since 2021, Redwire is a bet on steady demand for the components that go into almost everything launched.
