Intuitive Machines

Intuitive Machines put the first U.S. spacecraft on the Moon since Apollo when its Odysseus lander touched down in 2024, and the first ever built by a private company. The Houston firm builds lunar landers and sells the trip: it flies NASA science instruments and commercial payloads to the surface under the agency's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, which has awarded it several delivery contracts. Beyond landings, it is developing lunar data relay and communications, and infrastructure it hopes to rent out as the Moon economy grows. Revenue leans heavily on government contracts, and each mission carries real technical risk, as its first landing showed when the craft tipped on touchdown. The stock moves on launch schedules, contract awards and mission outcomes. Founded in 2013, Intuitive Machines is betting that recurring lunar access becomes a business rather than a one-off feat.
