Power optimizers are what set SolarEdge apart. The Israeli company, founded in 2006, built its business on a system that pairs a central inverter with small optimizer units attached to each solar panel, squeezing more electricity from a rooftop array and letting installers monitor panels individually. For years that technology made it a leader in residential and commercial solar inverters, especially in the United States and Europe, and briefly earned it a place in the S&P 500. The recent story is far harder: a glut of unsold inventory, high interest rates that chilled rooftop solar demand and stiff competition sent revenue and the share price plunging, and the company was dropped from the index. Its fortunes now hinge on working through excess stock and a recovery in solar installations. Headquarters remain in Herzliya, with major operations across Israel.
