Novo Nordisk spent a century as the quiet Danish specialist in diabetes care before two drugs made it one of Europe's most valuable companies. Ozempic and Wegovy, both built on the same GLP-1 molecule, treat diabetes and obesity, and demand for them has been so intense that the company has struggled to make enough. That franchise now drives the stock, and any data point on weight-loss drugs, from a rival's trial to a supply update, can move it hard. Beyond the blockbusters, Novo still sells the insulins that built its name and remains a leader in diabetes treatment worldwide. Founded in 1923 and based outside Copenhagen, it is controlled through a foundation that holds most of the voting power and reinvests dividends into research and Danish science. Its rivalry with Eli Lilly defines the obesity-drug race.
