After spinning off its consumer brands as Kenvue in 2023, Johnson & Johnson is no longer the company behind Band-Aids and baby shampoo; it is now a pharmaceuticals and medical-device business. The drug arm, Innovative Medicine, sells cancer and immunology treatments such as Darzalex and Stelara and supplies most of the profit, while the MedTech unit makes surgical tools, orthopedic implants and heart devices. J&J is one of only a couple of US companies still rated triple-A, a sign of how dependable its cash flow is. The overhang is legal: tens of thousands of lawsuits claiming its talc baby powder caused cancer, which the company disputes and has spent years trying to settle. Founded in 1886 and based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, it is a staple of conservative, dividend-focused portfolios.
