Aehr Test Systems

Before a chip reaches a customer, it is often baked and stressed to weed out the ones that will fail early, and Aehr Test Systems makes the equipment for that step. The Fremont, California company specializes in burn-in and test, and in particular wafer-level burn-in, where its systems stress many devices at once on a full wafer before they are cut and packaged, saving cost on parts that would have died anyway. For years it was a small, niche supplier until demand for silicon-carbide power chips used in electric vehicles gave it a growth spurt. It has since chased new markets including AI processors and silicon-photonics parts for data-center optics. That concentration cuts both ways: a handful of large customers can swing revenue hard from quarter to quarter. Founded in 1977, Aehr is a small-cap tied closely to a few chip end-markets.
