Riot Platforms

Two Texas campuses, Rockdale and Corsicana, hold most of what Riot Platforms is worth. The company runs some of the largest bitcoin mining sites in North America, filling warehouses with specialized machines that race to earn newly issued coins, and its profits rise and fall with the bitcoin price and the cost of the power it burns. Riot buys electricity at industrial scale and has leaned on Texas grid credits, at times earning more from selling power back during demand spikes than from mining itself. Formerly Riot Blockchain, it took the Riot Platforms name in 2023 and is based in Castle Rock, Colorado. More recently it has started converting part of its capacity toward AI and data-center hosting, chasing steadier revenue than mining alone provides.
