About Western Union USDPT

Western Union built a remittance empire on cash counters in more than 150 countries, and USDPT is its bet that the same money can move as tokens. Announced in October 2025 and issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, the first federally chartered US crypto bank, the coin settles on Solana and is fully backed by US dollars. Anchorage holds the reserves and handles minting and redemption at par for approved institutional participants, while consumers meet the token through Western Union's network of agents and its digital wallet rather than at the issuer's window. The pitch is to fuse retail remittances and wholesale settlement on one rail that runs around the clock. It ties a 175-year-old money-transfer brand to a regulated, blockchain-native dollar meant to cut the cost and delay of sending money across borders.
