About SpiceUSD
Spice Trade pitched an unusual idea: a decentralized dollar that could adjust for inflation, with a companion token repegging monthly to US consumer-price data. The everyday version, SpiceUSD, was only partly backed and partly algorithmic, soft-pegged to the dollar across BNB Chain, Ethereum, Polygon and Avalanche. Algorithmic designs that lean on incentives rather than hard reserves have a poor survival record, and this one did not escape it. SpiceUSD lost its peg and now trades far below a dollar, more than ninety percent under its early high, with no functioning redemption path left. What remains is a thinly traded token from a protocol that never reached scale. It belongs to the long list of ambitious algorithmic stablecoins that could not hold their value once demand and liquidity dried up.
