About Universal USD
Abu Dhabi's financial free zone licensed the issuer behind this dollar token, making it one of the Gulf's first regulated stablecoins. Universal Digital Intl Limited operates from Abu Dhabi Global Market under a Financial Services Regulatory Authority permission, and Universal USD is also the first token registered as a Foreign Payment Token under the UAE central bank's payment-token rules. Each coin is backed one-for-one by US dollars held in fully liquid accounts at Emirates NBD and Mashreq, two of the region's large banks. The design targets institutional settlement inside that regulatory perimeter: minting and par redemption are handled for onboarded institutions rather than walk-in retail users. Issued on Ethereum, USDU is a compliance-first, single-chain dollar aimed at the professional users the UAE is courting as it builds itself into a regulated hub for digital-asset finance.
