About Tokenised GBP

Sterling has few homes on public blockchains, and tGBP was built to be a credible one. BCP Technologies, a firm registered with the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, launched Tokenised GBP in June 2025 after a spell in the FCA's regulated sandbox, billing it as the first live pound stablecoin from an FCA-registered issuer. Each token is backed one-for-one by sterling held in a segregated account at a UK-regulated institution. Direct par redemption is handled through approved participants on the issuer's own venue, BCP.Markets, while other holders buy and sell the token on the market and on listing venues that have since added it. Though its smart contracts were first proven on Ethereum, the token now spans several networks including Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Avalanche, Gnosis, BNB Chain and Solana. For a pound-denominated coin, its edge is regulatory standing rather than scale.
