About iShares Broad USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF

USHY packages the US high-yield, or junk, bond market into a single low-cost fund. It tracks a broad ICE index of dollar-denominated corporate bonds rated below investment grade, holding well over a thousand issues across every sector and weighting them by the size of each bond. iShares, BlackRock's ETF arm, runs it and prices it aggressively cheap for the category, which is much of the pitch: high-yield exposure at a fraction of the cost of active junk-bond funds. Investors buy it for the elevated income these riskier borrowers must pay, accepting greater default risk and sharper price swings than safer corporate or Treasury debt. Because it casts a wide net across the whole junk market rather than picking bonds, it lives or dies with credit conditions overall. It yields well above investment-grade funds.
