Trane Technologies

Heating, cooling and refrigeration are the whole of Trane Technologies, which sells air conditioners, heat pumps, building climate systems and the transport refrigeration units, under the Thermo King name, that keep trucks and shipping containers cold. Its customers are commercial buildings, factories, homes and food-transport fleets.

The company took its current shape in 2020, when Ingersoll Rand spun off its industrial tools business and renamed the remaining climate operation Trane Technologies, though the Trane brand itself has more than 150 years of history. It is legally domiciled in Ireland. The business rides two durable trends: tougher energy-efficiency rules and the switch to lower-emission refrigerants, both of which push customers to replace older equipment. A large installed base also feeds a steady, high-margin stream of service, parts and repair revenue.
