The appeal of cobots is that they are cheaper and easier to deploy than traditional industrial robots and can be reprogrammed for different jobs, which suits smaller manufacturers facing labor shortages.

Doosan Robotics is riding the broader push to automate work as populations age, particularly in Korea and Europe. It remains a small player against the established industrial-robot giants, though, and profitability depends on scaling shipments enough to cover the research spending a young, fast-moving robotics business demands.
