International Seaways

Roughly 70 tankers carrying crude oil and refined petroleum products on international routes make International Seaways one of the world's larger operators. The New York company was spun out of Overseas Shipholding Group in 2016 and splits its ships into two groups: crude carriers, including large VLCCs and Suezmaxes, and product tankers that move gasoline, diesel and other refined cargoes. Earnings ride the tanker rate cycle, which turns on how far oil has to travel, how much new tonnage yards deliver, and disruptions that reroute trade. Because it straddles both crude and products, Seaways gets exposure to two related but distinct markets. It has leaned on a strong balance sheet and shareholder payouts, returning cash when spot rates run hot rather than ordering big newbuild programs.
