Honeywell

Honeywell is a sprawling industrial company whose parts touch far more of daily life than its name suggests: cockpit avionics and jet-engine controls, the thermostats and building-management systems that run offices, warehouse automation gear, and specialty chemicals and materials. That spread has long been the appeal, letting strong segments cover weaker ones through an economic cycle, but it also invites the criticism that a conglomerate hides value. In 2025 the company bowed to that pressure and laid out plans to break itself into separate aerospace and automation businesses and spin off its advanced-materials unit. The aerospace arm, tied to commercial and defense flying, is the crown jewel investors focus on most. Now headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Honeywell traces its modern form to the 1999 merger of AlliedSignal and the original Honeywell.
