About iShares Euro High Yield Corporate Bond USD Hedged ETF
EUHY gives dollar investors a way into European high-yield debt without taking on euro currency risk. BlackRock's fund holds sub-investment-grade corporate bonds denominated in euros, issued by companies across Europe and some emerging markets, and tracks a Bloomberg PanEuropean high-yield benchmark weighted by market value. The defining feature is the currency hedge: the euro exposure is converted back to US dollars, so returns reflect the bonds' yields and credit performance rather than swings in the EUR/USD exchange rate. That matters for high yield, where currency moves can easily overwhelm the extra income the bonds pay. Buyers are typically income-seekers who find European junk bonds attractive relative to US ones but do not want to bet on the euro. It holds hundreds of issues to spread default risk across the European credit market.
