About Franklin High Yield Corporate ETF

High-yield corporate bonds are the entire mandate of FLHY, Franklin Templeton's actively managed entry in the junk-bond market. The fund buys debt from companies rated below investment grade, the borrowers that pay extra interest to compensate lenders for higher default risk. Rather than track a fixed index, Franklin's credit team selects issues across sectors and ratings tiers, adjusting the mix as the economic cycle and default outlook shift. Investors reach for it when they want income well above what Treasuries or investment-grade corporates offer and are willing to accept that these bonds move partly with the stock market and can fall hard in a downturn. Its low expense ratio, cheap for an active bond fund, has been part of the pitch since it launched in 2018, aimed at income seekers who prefer a manager navigating credit rather than a mechanical basket.
