About iShares Global Government Bond USD Hedged Active ETF
Government bonds from around the world usually come with currency risk attached, and GGOV strips that out. BlackRock's actively managed fund holds sovereign debt from developed and emerging markets, then hedges the foreign-currency exposure back to US dollars, so the return reflects global interest rates and bond selection rather than moves in the yen, euro or pound. Being active, the managers adjust which countries, maturities and credits they hold as conditions change, instead of tracking a fixed global bond index. BlackRock has described it as the first hedged government-bond active ETF, and it spreads across more than a thousand holdings. The pitch is diversification for a bond sleeve: exposure to how rates move outside the US, without the currency swings that often dominate international bond returns. BlackRock launched it in 2025 for investors wanting hedged global government exposure.
