Okeanis Eco Tankers runs a young, fuel-efficient fleet of large crude carriers, split between VLCCs and Suezmaxes and numbering around 14 ships. Incorporated in 2018 and controlled by Greece's Alafouzos family from offices near Piraeus, it dual-lists in Oslo and, since late 2023, on the New York Stock Exchange. The eco in its name points to the strategy: modern, scrubber-fitted vessels that burn less fuel and cost less to run, an edge when bunker prices are high and charterers prize efficiency. With most ships trading in the spot market, earnings swing hard with VLCC and Suezmax day rates. The fleet's youth is the differentiator here, since newer tonnage commands better rates and faces lower maintenance and drydock costs than the aging ships that fill much of the global tanker pool.
