United States Antimony

United States Antimony calls itself the only significant producer of antimony in the country, a metal used in flame retardants, lead-acid batteries, ammunition and, increasingly, defense and semiconductor applications. The company works the material through a chain of mining, milling and smelting, with a smelter and precious-metals refinery in Montana and additional smelting and milling operations in Mexico. It has produced antimony products since 1969. A second business, Bear River Zeolite, mines and sells zeolite for agricultural and industrial uses. Now run from Dallas, Texas, the company has drawn fresh attention because China dominates global antimony supply and has restricted exports, putting a spotlight on scarce domestic sources of a metal the US treats as strategic. It remains small and its results swing with antimony prices, but that supply-chain angle drives much of the investment interest.
