About T-Mobile

The 'Un-carrier' campaign turned T-Mobile from a distant fourth into a genuine threat, scrapping contracts and overage fees to steal subscribers from Verizon and AT&T. The 2020 takeover of Sprint sealed the shift, handing T-Mobile the spectrum it needed to build a wide 5G network and vault into second place among US wireless carriers, with roughly 140 million customers. Deutsche Telekom of Germany still holds majority control and lends the brand its name. The company now earns steady cash from postpaid phone plans and is pushing into home broadband over its 5G network and into fixed-wireless for rural areas. Growth from here is harder, since the easy subscriber grabs are done and rivals have matched much of its 5G buildout. Headquarters sit in Bellevue, Washington.
