About Franklin US Large Cap Multifactor Index ETF
Rather than weight large U.S. stocks by size alone, FLQL screens them through several factors at once. It tracks the LibertyQ US Large Cap Equity Index, which selects and weights companies using a blend of quality, value and momentum, tilting toward firms that look financially strong, reasonably priced and on an upward trend while trimming the most volatile names. Franklin Templeton launched it in 2017 as part of its LibertyQ smart-beta family. The idea is to capture the extra return those factors have historically delivered over a plain market-cap index, at a fee far below an actively managed fund. Because the tilts are rules-based, the portfolio reconstitutes on a set schedule rather than at a manager's discretion. Investors use it as a core large-cap holding when they want a systematic factor strategy instead of a pure index or stock-picking approach.
