iShares MSCI EAFE Value ETF

Value investors who want their bargain-hunting outside the United States tend to start here. EFV tracks the MSCI EAFE Value Index, which screens developed markets across Europe, Australasia and the Far East for stocks trading cheaply on book value, earnings and dividends. That tilts the portfolio toward banks, energy and industrial names in Japan, the UK, France and Switzerland, and away from the expensive growth stocks that dominate US benchmarks. It is weighted by market value, so the biggest European and Japanese companies carry the most weight. BlackRock's iShares arm has run the fund since 2005 at a low expense ratio. People own it to diversify away from home and to bet that beaten-down foreign shares eventually close the gap with the US market, often pairing it with a growth-oriented counterpart.
