Data centers are the physical backbone of the internet, and DTCR invests in the companies that own and run them. Global X's fund tracks the Solactive Data Center REITs and Digital Infrastructure Index, a market-cap-weighted group of real-estate investment trusts and infrastructure firms that operate data centers, cell towers and the facilities cloud and AI computing depend on. It is a fairly concentrated portfolio, around 28 holdings, blending property companies that collect rent on server halls with hardware and semiconductor names tied to the buildout. The appeal is exposure to surging demand for computing capacity, much of it structured as REITs that pass income to shareholders. Global X launched it in 2020. Investors use it to play the infrastructure side of the cloud and AI story rather than betting on the software or chips directly.
