The driver-assistance systems in a large share of the world's new cars run on Mobileye's technology. The Israeli company builds the cameras, chips and software behind lane-keeping, automatic braking and other safety features, and is developing full self-driving systems on top of that base. Its EyeQ chips and the vast fleet of vehicles running them feed it an enormous stream of road data.

Amnon Shashua founded Mobileye in 1999. Intel bought it in 2017 and took it public again in 2022, though Intel still holds a majority stake. Mobileye's near-term business is selling driver-assistance systems to automakers, a steady but competitive market as carmakers weigh building the technology in-house. Its longer-term bet is that its data and hardware make it a front-runner in the eventual shift to autonomous driving.
