About Carnival Corporation
More than ninety ships sail under Carnival, the largest cruise company in the world by passengers carried. The group runs eight brands aimed at different wallets and regions, from the value-focused Carnival Cruise Line to premium names like Princess, Holland America, Cunard, Costa and Seabourn. Ted Arison founded the flagship line in 1972, and decades of acquisitions built the rest. Cruising is a capital-heavy business: ships cost hundreds of millions and take years to deliver, so the company carries heavy debt and lives on filling cabins at the right price. That leverage cut deeply during the 2020 shutdown, when sailings stopped and Carnival raised huge sums to survive. The recovery since has been about rebuilding occupancy, paying down debt and restoring the cash flow that its fleet can generate when berths are full.
