About iShares Flexible Income Active ETF
Run by Rick Rieder, BlackRock's chief investment officer for global fixed income, BINC is an actively managed bond fund rather than an index tracker. The mandate is flexibility: the team roams across sectors that are hard for individuals to reach on their own, including high-yield corporate bonds, securitized credit and collateralized loan obligations, European credit and emerging-market debt, shifting the mix as they see value. It launched in 2023 and grew fast, pulling in billions as investors bet on the manager's name and its generous monthly income. The draw is a higher, more diversified yield than a plain aggregate bond fund, with a professional deciding where the risk goes. The trade-off is credit risk and reliance on the manager's calls, so it behaves more like a flexible income sleeve than a safe Treasury holding.
