About Glo Dollar
Glo Dollar turns an ordinary fiat stablecoin into a charity engine. It is backed much like USDC, with cash and short-term US Treasuries, but the Glo Foundation runs it as a non-profit and channels the interest earned on those reserves toward programs fighting extreme poverty, including direct cash transfers through GiveDirectly. Brale Inc., a licensed US money-transmitter, is the named issuer and handles minting, reserves and redemptions, publishing monthly reserve attestations from an independent accountant. Any holder can redeem a token for a dollar through the issuer under standard identity checks, which anchors the peg. The token itself pays the holder no yield, because that return is the donation. USDGLO travels across eight networks, among them Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Celo and Stellar, so it moves cheaply while the reserve interest quietly funds the philanthropy behind it.
