About USDKG

USDKG is a rare thing: a stablecoin issued by a national government. Kyrgyzstan's finance ministry stands behind it through a wholly state-owned entity, OJSC Virtual Asset Issuer, operating under the country's 2022 Law on Virtual Assets, and markets it as the first state-issued, gold-backed dollar token. It targets a one-to-one US dollar value, but the reserve is physical gold rather than cash or Treasuries, with day-to-day gold management delegated to a private Kyrgyz company and the contracts audited by ConsenSys Diligence. An initial fifty million tokens were minted on Tron, with Ethereum support planned. Redemption follows FATF identity rules and, in practice, is geared toward vetted institutional participants rather than open retail claims. Officials have floated scaling the backing toward hundreds of millions and eventually billions, positioning USDKG as a cross-border settlement rail for a small economy.
