About USD CoinVertible
USD CoinVertible carries something most dollar tokens lack: a large regulated bank's name on the issuer line. It comes from SG-FORGE, the digital-asset arm of Societe Generale, which in 2025 became the first major global bank to put out a dollar stablecoin, listing it on Ethereum and Solana. Structured as an electronic-money token under Europe's MiCA rules, USDCV is backed by cash and cash-equivalent reserves, with Bank of New York Mellon holding the assets, and it is redeemable one-for-one for dollars. The bank framing shows in the redemption right, which extends to retail holders rather than institutions alone, in keeping with the e-money model. Distribution has widened over time, including integration into the MetaMask wallet in 2026. It sits alongside SG-FORGE's euro CoinVertible as part of a bank-issued push into public-blockchain money.
