Figure Technology Solutions runs a consumer-lending and capital-markets business built on its own blockchain rather than traditional bank rails. The company started in 2018 with home-equity lines of credit, using its Provenance blockchain to originate, register and sell loans faster and with less paperwork than legacy lenders. It has since expanded into a marketplace where those loans are packaged and traded, plus payment and registry services aimed at other financial firms. Founder Mike Cagney previously co-founded the online lender SoFi, and Figure follows a similar playbook of attacking a slow, paper-heavy corner of finance with software. The pitch to investors is that moving lending onto a shared ledger cuts settlement time and cost across the whole chain, from origination to securitization. Revenue still leans heavily on the home-equity product, so the stock tracks housing activity and interest rates closely.
