About Sprott Physical Gold and Silver Trust
Gold and silver bars locked in a Canadian government vault sit behind every share of CEF. The trust holds fully allocated London Good Delivery bullion at the Royal Canadian Mint, split between the two metals, and unlike most bullion funds it lets large holders redeem shares for the physical metal itself. That redemption right and the segregated, audited storage are the pitch: investors get direct claims on real bars rather than paper exposure or a promise. Sprott, a Canadian asset manager focused on precious metals, reorganized the vehicle into its current form in 2017. Because it is a closed-end trust, the share price can drift to a premium or discount against the value of the metal it holds. People buy it as a hard-asset hedge against inflation and currency risk, preferring it to coins for the storage and insurance it handles for them.
