About Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV
One in every four beers sold worldwide comes from Anheuser-Busch InBev, the brewer behind Budweiser, Stella Artois, Corona (outside the US), Michelob and hundreds of local labels. Formed in 2008 when Belgium's InBev bought America's Anheuser-Busch, and enlarged again by the 2016 takeover of SABMiller, the company grew through relentless dealmaking into by far the largest brewer on earth. Its strength is scale: enormous purchasing power, dominant distribution and a portfolio that runs from cheap mass-market lagers to pricier premium brands. That same appetite for acquisitions left it carrying heavy debt, and volumes in mature markets have flattened as younger drinkers cut back on beer. Growth now leans on emerging markets, premium labels and no-alcohol versions. Headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, and run with a famously cost-cutting culture, AB InBev throws off large, steady cash flows even when sales barely grow.
