About Origin Dollar

Yield that shows up in your wallet without staking is the whole pitch of Origin Dollar. Built by Origin Protocol on Ethereum, OUSD is minted one-for-one from USDC, USDT and DAI, which the protocol then deploys into vetted lending and market-making strategies; the returns flow back to holders through a rebasing supply that grows their balance several times a day. It is a collateral claim rather than a company IOU, redeemable through the contract for the underlying stablecoins. Its history includes a hard lesson: in November 2020, weeks after launch and before a full audit, a reentrancy bug let an attacker drain about $7 million, including funds from the founders themselves. The protocol reimbursed users and has since been audited by firms including Trail of Bits. OUSD stays deliberately small and conservative, a yield-bearing dollar for onchain holders rather than a payments rail.
