About Fantom USD
Minted through Fantom's fMint module, FUSD is the collateralized dollar at the center of the old Fantom Finance stack. A user locks FTM, the network's native token, as collateral and draws FUSD against it, with the protocol demanding heavy over-collateralization, historically a minimum ratio around 300 percent, so the debt stays safely covered if FTM falls. Redemption is an onchain affair: the claim runs against the locked collateral through the protocol, not a redemption desk at a company, and there is no KYC gate. FUSD was built to unlock a suite of synthetic assets and DeFi strategies native to Fantom rather than to circulate as a general-purpose dollar. Its fortunes are tied to the Fantom Foundation and the chain's broader activity, and it lives only on that network, which limits its reach well below the major decentralized dollars.
