About Quantoz EURQ
An unlikely set of backers stands behind EURQ: Tether, the exchange Kraken and the venture firm Fabric Ventures, who funded Dutch fintech Quantoz Payments to launch it in November 2024. The logic was partly defensive, since Tether's own USDT lacked a MiCA license and needed compliant European exposure. Quantoz issues EURQ as an e-money token authorised by the Dutch central bank, backed one-for-one by euro reserves plus an additional safety buffer required under MiCA. Verified holders can redeem at par with the issuer, and the coin listed on Kraken and Bitfinex within days of launch. It circulates on Ethereum, Polygon, Algorand and the XRP Ledger. EURQ is less a household name than a piece of regulatory plumbing, a way for large exchanges to keep euro liquidity onshore as older tokens were pushed out.
