About Main Street USD

Main Street USD lost its dollar peg and collapsed in June 2026. It had marketed itself as a yield-bearing synthetic dollar from Main St Finance Ltd, a BVI entity, promising returns from delta-neutral options strategies while a staked version accrued yield. It broke fast. In June 2026 msUSD depegged and crashed roughly 90 percent, sliding from a dollar toward the low 30-cent range within hours after Accountable, the third party verifying its reserves, terminated its agreement and said the protocol could not meet its verification standards. Mainstreet insisted the assets were still backed and called it a reporting rather than solvency issue, but the run destroyed most of the token's value and rippled into lending markets exposed to it. The issuer was unregulated by its own terms, registered with no securities or commodities authority. Treat msUSD as a failed, depegged stablecoin.
